Principle of Working

The drum flaker is used primarily to pro-cess chemical and pharmaceutical prod-ucts. However, more and more applica-tions for these machines are also being found in the food industry. The closed design is ideally suited for processing of toxic or offensively smelling products. With the drum flaker, a molten product is converted into a solid form. A thin layer of the liquid product adheres to the outside of the rotating, internally cooled drum in a continuous process. Heat is extracted from the product by contact with the cooled drum surface, and the product solidifies and cools to the required final temperature. A stationary knife removes and breaks up the solidified laye

Abster Drum Flakers convert molten liquid chemical into solid flakes. This is achieved by forming a thin layer of molten chemical on the outside surface of a rotating drum and causing this to be solidified by spraying cold water from inside the surface of the drum. An adjustable scraper continuously removes the solid paste from the drum surface in flake forms.

Abster Single Drum Dryers are similar to the flakers except that in these Single Drum Dryers, the inner surface instead of being sprayed with cold water is heated with steam. This results in heating of the drum and removes the excess moisture from the molten chemicals which after scraping results in a dried powdery product.

The material flaked/dried is collected through a chute or a conveyor. The required size of the flakes can be adjusted by controlling the speed of the drum through a VFD, the temperature of the product, the dip level of the drum in the molten chemical or by controlling the temperature of the cooling/drying medium.

The drum is mounted on self aligning spherical roller bearing for smooth rotation and to take care of scraping loads. A jacketed feed tray is provided below the drum in which molten material is poured, the molten material gets coated to the drum by a sizer pipe. The Scraping arrangement is made of Copper or Fiber Blades to scrape the flakes. A discharge tray is provided to collect the Flakes.

The Flaker drum is rotated by chain sprocket arrangement with Reduction Gear Box which is driven by a variable pulley drive Drum Flaker Machine, Drum Dryer, Rotary Drum Dryer Manufacturer and Supplier. Drum flaker is used primarily for processing chemical products. A rotating drum flaker is widely used solidification process for getting flaked product.
