Drum Flaker Machines

Drum flakers (also known as cooling drums) are used for solidifying molten material. After processing on flakers, the material forms films or easily handled flakes and is further processed or packed into containers for transport. A great advantage of flakers is that they offer a continuous process.

Drum Flaker consist of Drum fabricated from Mild Steel or Stainless steel with hollow shafts on both ends. The drum surfaced is duly ground and hard chromed with superior finish to get uniform thickness of the flakes. The drum is provided with a Hollow Shaft for entry of water for sprinkling on the inside of the drum for cooling purpose.

The drum is mounted on self aligning spherical roller bearing for smooth rotation and to take care of scraping loads. A jacketed feed tray is provided below the drum in which molten material is poured, the molten material gets coated to the drum by a sizer pipe. The Scraping arrangement is made of Copper or Fiber Blades to scrape the flakes. A discharge tray is provided to collect the Flakes.

The Flaker drum is rotated by chain sprocket arrangement with Reduction Gear Box which is driven by a variable pulley drive Drum Flaker Machine, Drum Dryer, Rotary Drum Dryer Manufacturer and Supplier. Drum flaker is used primarily for processing chemical products. A rotating drum flaker is widely used solidification process for getting flaked product.

Working Principle

The hot material is applied to the cooling drum by direct immersion into a trough, or indirect immersion using doctor/applicator rolls. The molten liquid is cooled on the cooling drum and after a partial revolution; the cooled and solidified product is removed by a scraper in the form of flakes or film. The cooling drum of the flaker is specially designed to provide an even cooling effect by having uniform and effective internal distribution. As a result, both high output and homogeneity of the product are possible.
